Distance still matters
Network round trips influence page loads, interactive applications and real-time sessions. Deploying closer to a user region can reduce distance-related delay, although routing and application design also affect latency.
Measure real user paths
Measure from representative user locations rather than relying on a data center’s geographic location alone. Internet routing is not always the shortest physical route.
Think beyond the application server
A fast frontend with a distant database can still feel slow. Consider where state is stored, how services communicate, and where cached content is delivered.
Operate the added footprint
Every extra region adds deployments, monitoring, data movement and recovery considerations. Introduce regions when their benefits justify that operational complexity.
